Abstract
Objective
This study was assessed to analyze the results of percutaneous radiofrequency rhizotomy for trigeminal neuralgia. Method: During last five years, 18 trigeminal neuralgias were treated by percutaneous radiofrequency rhizotomy. The mean age was 60.6 years and the mean duration of follow-up was 3.1 years.
Results
Pain relief was obtained in 100% of the patients and recurrence of trigeminal pain was observed in 2 cases during the follow-up period.
Conclusion
Percutaneous radiofrequency rhizotomy can be performed effectively to relieve pain immediately for idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia.
Key Words: Radiofrequency rhizotomy, Trigeminal neuralgia.
